Reimagining Care/Work Policies

Gillian Petit is a researcher focused on how economic and social policies affect equity and opportunity in Canada. Her work spans income and social supports, tax and municipal policy, poverty policy, and access to justice, with an emphasis on how policy design impacts different groups. She has advised expert panels such as the BC Basic Income Panel, published in academic journals, and co-authored a book on basic income. Gillian is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Calgary, where she leads research on personal taxation, income assistance, and property tax. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Calgary and a Juris Doctor from Queen’s University.
