Reimagining Care/Work Policies

Child Care Policy Symposium
Ottawa, June 9 & 10th, 2022

On behalf of “Re-imagining Care/Work Policies,”, A partnership research program funded by the Social Sciences and the Humanities Council of Canada (SSHRC), we will be hosting a two-day symposium to discuss Canadian Childcare policy. This is an invitation-only event for a small group of ELCC researchers, policy experts, and advocates.

The objective of our two-day meeting is to scope out lessons learned from the first year of the Canada-wide early learning and child care agreements, and to anticipate upcoming policy challenges and opportunities. This applied policy analysis meeting will include presentations and small group discussions, offering a mix of information-sharing, collective analysis, and policy/research development. The results of our discussions will be shared in a public forum later in the summer, to allow broader participation.

Child Care Now, one of our partner organizations, is taking advantage of the symposium to hold a meeting of child care advocates involved in our national organization and provincial sister organizations the afternoon of June 8, 2022. The hope is that those who wish to attend the advocacy meeting will be able to do so without incurring additional hotel or travel costs. If you are interested in attending, please advise morna.ballantyne@childcarenow.ca and she will send you further details, and also make your travel and hotel plans accordingly.
