Manlin Cai is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Sociology at the University of British Columbia. Her research centres on how work, family, and migration processes intersect to shape social inequality, particularly in Canadian and Chinese societies. Currently, she is working with Prof. Sylvia Fuller using Canadian linked employer-employee data to examine women’s earnings trajectories following motherhood, with a focus on immigrant-native born comparison. Her work has appeared in Work and Occupations, Society and Mental Health, and Canadian Review of Sociology, among others.
